HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

FIELD TRIP
Our last field trip for the year will be on Tuesday, June 25 in the afternoon. We will be going to the Louis Riel Library on Dakota Street. I am sending home an application (yellow form) for your child to get a limited membership library card (only if you wish). They will be able to borrow two books from the library that day. If your child already has a library card, please send it along on the day of the field trip and they can borrow books as usual. If they already have a library card, you do not have to fill out the application form. Please return application form by June 17.

We will be leaving the school around 1:00 pm. The program includes a STORY TIME and an introduction to the SUMMER READING PROGRAM. We will then have some time to look for books at the library. Parents will be responsible for returning the books to the library. We should return to school by 3:00 pm. We will need parent drivers and chaperones for this field trip. If you are able to help out, please fill in the appropriate portion of the permission slip. Thanks!

METAMORPHOSIS
We have been learning about metamorphosis in class this week as we watched our caterpillars become chrysalises and await the emergence of butterflies. God truly works miracles every day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! JENNA JUNE 1

CATERPILLARS ARRIVE
Our Painted Lady caterpillars arrived last week. They have grown a lot already. We are keeping a journal of their growth and development. Today is Day 6. They have already shed their skin once and have produced lots of FRASS (caterpillar poop).

BOOK FAIR and READ-A-THON
Our school’s first Book Fair and Read-a-thon was a tremendous success! Thank you to all of the families for their help and support.

FLAT STANLEYS RETURN
We have had four Flat Stanleys return to school and share their adventures with the class. The map is up on the front hallway bulletin board so others can see where they have visited. Could you please check with your family or friends to make sure their Flat Stanleys arrived safely and encourage them to send them back to Winnipeg soon. We would like enough time to share and display the postcards from their travels. Thanks!

ZOO FIELD TRIP
We survived our “WET” field trip to the Zoo last week. We were able to see many animals in one short afternoon. The favourites were the penguins, Hudson the polar bear, the snowy owls and the emus. Thank you to the parents who came along and braved the adventurous weather with us!
